Fifi Ejindu Biography
Born Offiong Ekanem Ejindu, Fifi Ejindu is the richest Akwa Ibom woman in Nigeria. The renowned Architect, Businesswoman and Philanthropist is the great-granddaughter of King James Ekpo Bassey. King James Ekpo was an Efik monarch of the colonial era. Because of her royal heritage, the princess uses the title of H.H The Obonganwan King James socially.
Princess Fifi was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, to a mother who is an indigene of Cross River and a father who is an indigene of Akwa Ibom State.
Fifi Ejindu Early life
Her parents both schooled outside the country so it was expected that after the young princess completed her secondary education at Queen’s College, she’d also travel outside the country to further her studies.
As expected, Fifi got admitted into Pratt Institute School of Architecture to study Architecture. She broke history in 1983 by becoming the first black woman to be awarded a B.Arch degree from the institute.
Years later, she returned to Pratt Institute for a Master’s degree program in Urban Planning. After accomplishing this milestone, Princess decided to return to Nigeria.
Starcrest Group of Companies
On her return to Nigeria, she started a real estate business called Starcrest. With time, what began as a little real estate business grew to become Starcrest group of companies with the following subsidiaries: Starcrest Investment Ltd., Starcrest Associates Ltd. and Starcrest Industries Ltd. Starcrest group of companies is involved in real estate management, building construction, oil and gas, project management, youth empowerment and investment opportunities.
Starcrest has designed and built several projects for individuals, companies and even the government. The highlight of Starcrest’s jobs was constructing the Spanish Ambassador’s apartment in Abuja.
With Starcrest, Fifi initiated an investment forum in the United Arab Emirates. This investment brought prominent business owners from the United Arab Emirates to Nigeria to invest in different sectors of Nigeria’s economy.
Other Achievements
Fifi Ejindu is the founder of the African Arts and Fashion Initiative. This initiative is a platform for displaying Africa’s talent and rich cultural heritage. It also creates several opportunities for African youths to harness their talents.
She is also the CEO of Building Support Systems and the Grand Patron of the Icons Club of Dubai.
